Directions to Start/Finish Line
GPS Coordinates (Click for Google Map):
38.41651, -109.46436
From the south end of Moab, head south approximately 13 miles. You will head out of town on a single lane road. As you begin to head up the first steep hill, the road will open up to a passing lane. Once you get to the top of the hill, the dirt road will be on your right. The turn is just past mile marker 113. If you pass the rest area, you have gone too far. Take a right turn, and follow the road approximately 2.5 miles to the start. You will see the start line on the left hand side. The dirt road is difficult to spot. The dirt road is technical, but passable. Please allow plenty of time to find the start. You can reference the map below for more information. If you will driving in or out of the race area, during race time. Please drive slow while on course with the runners.
There will be parking attendants pointing out parking spots. If you park in an unacceptable location, BLM will issue tickets. Please adhere to parking attendants instructions to avoid tickets and ensure we can continue to work with the BLM for future events hosted by Mad Moose Events.
Note: Crew directions are located in the Race Guide
Camping Information
Event Camping Details:
-
Free camping is available at the start/finish line and along the road. You must camp in designated camp areas only. A parking/camping map is available in the race guide.
-
The Event Camping Area will close to camp setup at 8 PM on Friday. After this time, no entry to the camp area will be allowed out of respect for the runners. Campers should plan to walk to the start line on race morning.
-
If you arrive after the Event Camping Area is closed, you must find alternative legal camping. You may not camp in the Event Areas, along the dirt road, or in our parking lot/overflow lot.
RV Camping:
-
RVs are welcome, though the access road is a technical dirt road suitable for 2WD. If you are uncomfortable with towing or driving your RV on such terrain, please reconsider. Longer RVs may face challenges, but it is common for them to use this area. Remember, camping is first come, first served.
Important Guidelines:
-
Only park or camp in designated spots. You may be asked to move if not in a designated area.
-
Toilets will be available for campers starting Friday. If you arrive earlier, please follow Leave No Trace principles. See Discover Moab for local rules and regulations.
-
Campfires are strictly prohibited in the camp area. If you wish to have a campfire, please seek alternative camping locations.
-
Quiet hours begin at 8 PM. The road to the Event Camping Area will also close at this time on Friday, reopening Saturday morning after the last race starts.
Additional Notes:
-
Camping is first come, first served, and availability cannot be guaranteed for late arrivals.
-
Please adhere to all road closures, barriers, and signage. These are necessary for the event and our land use permits, and following them will help ensure we can continue to host events here in the future.

Volunteer with Mad Moose
Join the Mad Moose Herd and make a difference in the running community by volunteering at one of our upcoming events. It's always a fun time!
As a volunteer you'll have the chance to support runners. As a thank you for your time and effort, we offer credits toward free race entries of your choice. (Friends and Family - You can earn race credits for your runner to use toward their next Mad Moose Event!)
Whether you're a seasoned runner or just love being a part of the action, we have volunteer opportunities for everyone.
Some of our aid stations require 4 x 4 access in remote areas. We are always in need of volunteers to drive to far out aid stations and transport some gear. If you enjoy driving to beautiful places, come help us out.
