Thelma and Louise Marathon, Half Marathon, 15K, and Marathon Team Race

About Thelma and Louise Marathon, Half Marathon, 15K, and Marathon Team Race
Because a girls weekend should include an exciting challenge, we present Thelma and Louise Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, and Marathon Relay. Bring your best girl friends to Moab, and experience remoteness of Moab's Behind the Rocks area. See the towering red rock walls of Lone Rock, believed to have been used for religious ceremonies by the Ancestral Pueblo people; their ceremonies worshiped their "mother deity." Catch views of the maze of fins in the Behind the Rocks Wilderness Area and the stunning La Sal Mountains at this women's only event. Originally a road half marathon and relay, we have designed a new challenging course, rugged and tough enough to be worthy of the name "Thelma and Louise."
When Thelma and Louise took a stand, they took a turn onto the dirt.
The tires are screeching, the car is turning...are you ready to face the music?

Race Day Schedule
Marathon- 6:30 AM
Half Marathon- 7:30 AM
Marathon Team Race- 7:30 AM
15K- 8 AM
All runners will start in a wave format to allow for social distancing and to limit passing. We will start waves three minutes apart. You have a very generous course cutoff, so no need to worry about that. Choose the wave that best describes where you plan to finish:
Wave 1: I am looking to compete in the top 10% of the field (top 10 in a 100 person race).
Wave 2: The front of the pack.
Wave 3: The middle of the pack.
Wave 4: The back of the pack.
Time for all the Thelmas out there to find their Louises!! Coming in 2022, the marathon team race. The marathon team race will consist of two team members, Thelma and Louise. Each partner will run the half marathon course. The two times will be added together for the total marathon time. The fastest team time wins!
The race program is published digitally. You can print it out or save it to your phone. We'll publish this closer to race date.

Directions to the Start/Finish Line
Directions to start:
From the south end of Moab, head south approximately 13 miles. You will head out of town on a single lane road. As you begin to head up the first steep hill, the road will open up to a passing lane. Once you get to the top of the hill, the dirt road will be on your right. The turn is just past mile marker 113. If you pass the rest area, you have gone too far. Take a right turn, and follow the road approximately 2.5 miles to the start. You will see the start line on the left hand side. The dirt road is difficult to spot. The road is technical, but passable for 2WD. Please allow plenty of time to find the start. You can reference the map below for more information.
There will be parking attendants pointing out parking spots. If you park in an unacceptable location, BLM will issue tickets. Please adhere to parking attendants instructions to avoid tickets and ensure we can continue to work with the BLM for the Behind the Rocks and future events hosted by Mad Moose Events.
Located at Behind the Rocks Trail
